Boys Varsity Wrestling · Jake Slinger Completes Great Year With Second Place Finish In State Championship

Jake Slinger finished an incredible career and season by finishing second at the PIAA state wrestling championship in a very close final match.  Jake finished his year at 39-1 and 138-26 overall in his career.  Jake is the all-time wins leader in Upper St. Clair history. Congratulations Jake, the coaching staff and the entire wrestling program.  We are proud of your accomplishments!!!
In the finals, Jake took on Kawaun DeBoe from Erie Cathedral Prep who like Jake was 39-0. Below is the championship match summary.

1st period

It’s a scoreless first period. DeBoe attempted a couple of shots, but nothing landed in the end.

2nd period

The second period, also, is scoreless.

3rd period

The third period brings the first point, as DeBoe escapes after a lengthy scramble. He then earns a takedown, and rides out the match.
