Congratulations to the Upper St. Clair girls basketball team as they were winners both on and off the court tonight. On the court, the girls defeated a very good Mount Lebanon team by the score of 53-40. Mia Brown sank four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Panthers. Ava Keating added 15 points to help lead the way offensively. The fifth-ranked Panthers (13-6, 10-4) went on a 20-7 run in the third quarter to seize control of the game.
The Lady Panthers also won off the court tonight. The girls basketball program and the boosters sponsored a “Tommie Tough” white out night. Tommie DeSantis is a five year old from Upper St. Clair (Coach Serio’s neighbor), who was diagnosed with a high risk Neuroblastoma a little over a year ago. Tommie has been doing a great job fighting this disease but also needs our help. Tonight through the support of everyone in attendance the program raised $637 to help the fight. In addition, Tommie helped to inspire the girls and the coaching staff to a great game victory tonight. Many thanks to the players, coaches and parents for pulling off a successful and worthwhile event.
The girls will play their final regular season game of the year against Trinity on Saturday afternoon. Tip is set for 12:30. Then its on to the playoffs next week……..great job USC!
