Panthers Open up Season Defeating Bethel Park!
The Upper St. Clair Panthers kicked off the season Friday night with a conference game against Bethel Park. With a lot of uncertainty around the season, we are happy for the players, cheerleaders, band and parents!
On Bethel Parks first drive, Luke Banbury of the Panthers forced a fumbled with Mateo Cepullio recovering, setting up USC in good field position. The Panthers were unable to score a touchdown but Abelardo Sobarzo would make a 22 yard FG putting the panthers up 3-0. After a Blackhawks punt, USC would come with a balanced attack and finish of the drive with a Jaden Keating rushing touchdown. The defense would be stout again with a Jamaal Brown sack, holding BP to a three and out. USC offense would go run heavy with Jaden Keating scoring his second rushing TD of the night. The Panthers would go into halftime with a 15-0 lead.
BP would score on their opening drive of the half, cutting into the lead 15-7. It wouldn’t take long for the Panthers to answer thanks to an Ethan Dahlem rushing TD. Dahlem again would score with his legs, putting the Panthers up 28-7 at the end of 3. The Panthers defense, which gave up few mistakes all night, were able to keep BP out of the end zone on a 4th and goal try. After a nice pass and catch from Dahlem to Aidan Besselman, Ethan Hiester would score from about 15 yards out to make the score and a game finial 34-7.
Ethan Dahlem: 16/25 160 pass yards 46 rush yards 2 rushing TDs
