Boys Varsity Football Gets Win In Shootout!
Upper St. Clair hosted Moon Friday night in a must win conference game. Congrats to Malloire Glancy and Joe Phillips for homecoming Queen and King! It was a tale of two different offenses, with Moon being efficient with the run and the Panthers in the pass game. But it was Moon’s defense to get on the scoreboard first with a scoop and score fumble. The Panthers would answer on the next drive when Ethan Dahlem would connect with David Pantelis for a 38 yard touchdown pass. Moon would score two unanswered touchdowns to go up 21-7. With just 1:19 left in the first half, the Panthers would cut the lead to 21-14 when Luke Banbury would catch a Dahlem pass for an 8 yard touchdown.
USC would start the second half with the ball and would only take 2 minutes to tie the game. Dahlem would throw his 3rd passing touchdown to Aidan Besselman for a 51 yard score. The tie wouldn’t last long with Moon taking the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown. Moon would go up 35-21 halfway through the 3rd quarter. Just over a minute later, Dahlem would find Pantelis again, this time for a 65 yard touchdown. On Moon’s next drive, the defense would step up when Luke Banbury would strip sack the Moon QB. Jamaal Brown would recover the fumble to give the Panthers the ball back. Dahlem would find Pantelis for a third time to tie up the game 35-35. Dahlem would add a touchdown with his legs with just 6 minutes left in the game to give the Panthers their first lead of the night 42-35. Moon would drive late to threaten the Panthers, but Sophomore Mark Banbury would end the game with a sack!
